NEW HAVEN, Conn. Matt Brandau, who leads the Bulldogs in points (49) and assists (22), has been selected as one of 25 nominees for the 2023 Tewaaraton Award by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Brandau, of Timonium, Md., has been one of the most prolific offensive players in all of college lacrosse throughout his career. He is currently 13th in the nation in assists per game (8.10) and 14th in points per game (4.90). In his time at Yale, he has scored 144 goals and added 94 assists, both of which are third in school history. In addition, he has at least one point in all 50 games he has played and scored at least one goal in all but one game. This is the second straight season that Brandau has been a nominee for the prestigious award. The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Five men's and five women's finalists will be selected from these groups and announced on May 11 at the conclusion of the regular season. "The Tewaaraton Nominees are an extraordinary group of athletes," said Andy Phillips, President of the Tewaaraton Foundation. "Their talent is taking the excitement of college lacrosse to a new level, and we are eager to watch the nominees and their teammates perform over the closing stretch of the 2023 season."
