NEW HAVEN, Conn. – There were some anxious moments for the Yale men's lacrosse team as the selections to the 2023 NCAA Tournament were revealed on ESPNU on Sunday night. But in the end, it was well worth the wait. The Bulldogs were the final team announced and will meet Georgetown, the tournament's No. 7 seed, in the first round on Saturday in Washington, DC.

Yale, one of eight at-large selections, will be appearing in the tournament for the seventh straight season and 11th time in school history. The Bulldogs won the national championship in 2018 and were the national runner up in 2019.

The announcement of the NCAA pairings capped a long day for Yale, which fell to Princeton in the Ivy League Tournament championship game earlier in the day, denying the Bulldogs the league's automatic bid. The loss snapped Yale's six-game winning streak. The Bulldogs bring a 9-4 overall record into the tournament.

Georgetown (12-3) won its fifth straight Big East championship to earn the Big East's automatic bid. The Hoyas, making their 16th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, lost their first three games of the season and have won 12 straight since.

The Yale-Georgetown game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.

The winner advances to meet the winner of Saturday's Virginia-Richmond game on May 20 in Albany in the quarterfinals.
